Food & Drinks

While on vacation (or any day really) we like to explore by eating and drinking our way through the city.  The food and drinks in Sayulita surely exceeded our expectations!  From shrimp chili relleno, to molcajete mixto, to late night street tacos, the authentic food in Sayulita was incredible.  Many of the mixed cocktails and margaritas we tasted were so delicious and made with fresh ingredients.  Below we have listed some restaurants we experienced and highly recommend.

Mariscos Purillo’s– This little place is a true hidden gem!  It is not located in the center of town like most restaurants.  It is just off the main street as you come into town.  They serve quite possibly the best fish tacos we have ever eaten.

Tacos El Ivan – Al pastor.  That is all we have to say.  You will not be disappointed.  Located in the center of the main part of town, you cannot miss it.  These tacos will also be featured at our wedding as a late evening snack

Sayulita Cafe – “Casa de Chile Relleno” Definitely lived up to their name.  Not only was the chili relleno good, we also ordered the molcajete mixto that was equally delicious!

El Itacate – unfortunately we were unable to try this place, but it smelled amazing when we walked by.  It is a bold move to recommend a food without trying it first, but the reviews have been great and we are looking forward to eating here when we go back in February!

Barracuda – cute restaurant on the main drag.  Food and prices were a little on the higher end.  We ordered smoked marlin stuffed peppers and ceviche.  Very fancy presentation and the drinks were crafty and delicious!

La Rustica – Sometimes you just need a pizza.  After all the delicious mexican food we switched it up for some pizza.  La Rustica has great pizza and delicious, freshly crafted cocktails!  Very cool trendy decor and well priced.

Latitude 20 – a little bit of home – smoked bbq restaurant.  We did not get a chance to have a full meal here, although it smelled so good.  We did try the buffalo wings and Bryce gives it a thumbs up!  Drinks were good and happy hour was even better!

Yeikame – Traditional Mexican food.  This was our first stop on our food tour of Sayulita.  It was #1 ranked on Yelp.  To be totally honest, it was not our favorite of all the tacos we tasted, but this sampler platter pictured below (chicken, pork, steak, chorizo, beans and guacamole, plus 4 salsas) was a great way to taste a little bit of everything.

These restaurants are just the tip of the iceberg.  There are so many more places we did not even get to experience.  I mean, you can only eat so much in one day!  For more restaurants you can check out them out on TripAdvisor or on Yelp!
